President Obama announces support for
community broadband by targeting 19 state laws hindering local network
development. According to Obama, if the Federal Communications Communication
(FCC) approves the benefits, it could mean a positive increase in competition
and better Internet access for everyone.
Besides supporting community broadband,
President Obama will also protect firms that share cyber threat data like the
recent attack on Sony Pictures. Obama wants to improve the security of nations
network, prevent cyber attacks and strengthen law enforcement’s ability to
combat cybercrime. More information to be revealed on Feb. 13 when the White
House hosts a summit at Stanford University covering cybersecurity and consumer
protection.
